A: go to http://www.cex.co.uk. They inventory trade-in prices for everything. it doesn't matter if there isn't a cex shop near you, at least you will have a good guide as to what you will get at...
A bedfellow of mine took his old PS2 to one of the cash converter type shops and they offered rediculous money, like a fiver for the cheer up and 50p for any extras.

They won't put forward much more than £50. Cex would be a better bet. but Ebay will make you the most money.
